While the crowd may have lined further along John Street to maintain their social distance, there was no slimming of attendance of those wishing to pay their tributes at Arnprior Legion Branch 174 commemorations this Remembrance Day.
Jan Tobio returned as MC for the event.
The traditional parade and bus transportation for the veterans were curtailed, wreathes were pre-positioned before the observance, and admonitions from a pastor were absent, but the importance of coming together for a collective purpose was easily observed by numbers alone.
A Chinook helicopter from 450 Squadron conducted its scheduled fly-past at 11:11AM
2021 marks the anniversary of the adoption of the poppy as Canada’s symbol of commemoration- and the words we all memorized as school children were shared, for the 100th time.
As the 25 minute ceremony ended, the Legion offered fellowship with soup and chilli back at the Branch to those with proof of vaccination.
