Vipers Wrestling Club community rep, Norm Bujold is pleading for young volunteers to save Sport Renfrew.
Sport Renfrew has been sponsoring Renfrew County sports clubs for nearly 50 years, however with a depleting volunteer base, the organization has announced it’s folding.
Bujold worries what the news will mean for the community’s sporting future.
He implores potential volunteers to continue Sport Renfrew’s work so that their efforts don’t go to vain for future local athletes.
Although a relatively inexpensive sport, Bujold says some of his club’s wrestlers have gone on to compete in international and national events, and were only able to achieve their potential with Sport Renfrew’s sponsorship.
COVID fundraising bingo interruptions, an aging volunteer population and a lack of young volunteers, all contributed to Sport Renfrew’s demise.
