
Cheryl Gallant, Member of Parliament for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, has extended an invitation to the new Minister of Defence, Anita Anand, to tour Garrison Petawawa.
Gallant, who is the longest-serving member on Parliament’s Standing Committee on National Defence, remembers when the group worked with one voice, and is optimistic that may happen again.
She says it’s not like the standing committee hasn’t tackled issues of sexual abuse by senior command in the past, in two ombudsman’s reports and a judicial inquiry done when the Tories were in office.
There’s even a template to follow for resolution, based on the American Tailhook Scandal from 1991.
