According to a new study, the living wage in Renfrew County is $17.40 an hour.
That’s $3.05 above the current minimum wage in Ontario which currently sits at $14.35 an hour.
The calculations for the 2021 living wage take into account a weighted average between a family of four, single parent with one child and a single adult.
The living wage in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Counties is $18.25 an hour, in Ottawa the living wage is $18.60 an hour and in Toronto you would need to make $22.08 an hour to be considered in the minimum wage bracket.
The Ontario Living Wage Network released the new data this week and it’s the first time they’ve updated numbers since 2019.
The living wage in Renfrew County back in November of 2019, about five months before the COVID-19 hit, was still well above minimum wage sitting at $16.80 an hour.
