Municipal Asset Management Plans are a decade-old exercise that used to be pretty to look at- but now they’re getting teeth.
What began as an aspirational goal for communities to assess where the condition of their inventory of buildings, roads and water systems ought to be at any given time and when they would need repair or replacement has turned into an exact science with specific formulas.
That’s Arnprior Mayor Walter Stack, who says present Asset Management plans have no column for anticipated growth in their inventories.
While the Ontario government wants to see growth factors accomodated in the next generation Municipal Asset Management Plans by 2025, Mayor Stack believes the time to do it is now.
