On Wednesday (October 27th) a major road safety blitz took place in Quebec’s Outaouais and Laurentide Regions. A number of SQ divisions, supported by staff from the Contrôle Routier du Québec, conducted more than 160 separate operations.
There were 293 instances of speeding, including 18 involving heavy vehicles.
12 drivers were cited for seat belt violations, 9 of them driving big rigs.
4 persons were caught using their cell phones while driving- two of them were heavy equipment operators.
124 drivers were charged with miscellaneous infractions.
The exercise stressed responsible behaviour as a means of reducing the number of injuries and deaths.
