The Town of Renfrew is moving forward with plans to renovate the Splash Pad at Ma-te-Way.
The project will be funded by the Rotary Club, Parks and Recreation Fundraising Committee and through the towns capital budget.
The existing Splash Pad was installed in 2005 and is a busy spot in Renfrew during the warmer months of the year.
The Rotary Club was involved with the original build and approached town staff about an expansion as part of their 100th anniversary celebration.
Town staff and the Rotary Club reviewed eight options presented from three manufacturers.
Council has awarded the contract to ABC Recreation to complete the expansion at a cost of $149,992.29 plus HST.
Work on the Splash Pad will include nine new features in addition to what is already there with work to be completed by June of 2022.
The Renfrew Rotary Club has committed to pay $75,000 for the project.
Mayor Don Eady says it’s amazing the hard work the Rotary Club does and asked town staff to prepare a letter of thanks for their appreciation.
