While the rest of us may have debated sides of stuffing or rice with our Thanksgiving meals, blogger Guy Lamarche, of Arnprior on the Streets, spent the overnight of October 10th in commemoration of World Homelessness Day by sleeping out at the corner of John and Elgin Streets in Arnprior.
His mission was to raise awareness- and do companion fundraising and donation efforts.
The blogger’s Facebook posts began at Noon Sunday, announcing his sleep-over plans, and inviting community members to join in.
Lamarche also sought cash donation to the Arnprior Food Bank or a non-perishable food item dropped off to him between 7PM and 7AM Thanksgiving Monday.
The overnight hours convinced him his efforts had earned an “A” for awareness, but little in the way of material proof.
Facebook followers encouraged him in that greater public awareness pays off by making people more disposed to donate over the long term.
