Close to 150 people attended a Freedom Rally at Pembrokes’ Riverside Park on Saturday afternoon. One piece of information passed around was that a business could be fined for forcing mandatory masks or asking about vaccine status. Dr. Robert Cushman, the Acting Medical Officer of Health for the Renfrew County and District Health Unit says, that’s simply not true.
The rally, like the one held earlier in the summer, raised concerns regarding COVID-19 restrictions and vaccine passports. Cushman added that you can have your own personal freedoms, but when you begin to endanger others, that’s when you lose it. The Acting Medical Officer of Health for the Renfrew County and District Health Unit says there are about 1,000 residents a week getting their shots, but he noted the number of unvaccinated eligible residents remains high.
COVID-19 cases in a few selected schools in Renfrew will soon be a thing of the past as well. According to Dr. Robert Cushman, one of the two affected cohorts will be back to class this week.
