The Town of Arnprior has welcomed the Inclusivity and Diversity Advisory Committee (IDAC) to its fold, with an inaugural ZOOM meeting Monday evening.
The group consists of six committee members and its councillor chairperson is Lynn Grinstead.
Consensus was that there is enough work ahead to warrant meeting monthly.
It was then established by resolution that the IDAC committee will convene the first Thursday evening of each month, starting November 4th.
A diversity of backgrounds are represented by community members Rainner Bouret Amparo, Ro Nwosu, Ananda Nichols, Brad Greyeyes-Brant, Aiden McGrath, and Peter Shum.
Each member introduced themselves and shared a brief bio.
Councillor Grinstead’s lived family experiences spurred her own interest, and she hopes the committee may evolve to also include an events and awareness focus.
Ananda Nichols and Ro Nwosu were picked as vice-chairs for the IDAC.
A staff person keeps the minutes as recording secretary, and Jody Bucholz of the Local Immigration Partnership for Lanark and Renfrew Counties is the IDAC committee’s Resource person.
The group will assess Town practise and suggest improvements for Council’s consideration.
