Municipal buildings across the Ottawa Valley are closed today (September 30th, 2021) for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
This is the first year the new federal statutory holiday will be celebrated in Canada to recognize and commemorate the legacy of residential schools.
In addition to closing city offices, Pembroke will lower all Canadian flags on municipal buildings to half-mast and is hosting a blanket exercise at the Waterfront Park.
Residents can also live-stream events taking place at Parliament Hill.
