Advance polls and mail-in ballots could yet be complicating factors in tight races across the country, meaning a final result may remain unknown until several days hence- but will not alter the outcome, as first feared.
In Election Night counts, the advance ballot totals are customarily added as a group to conclude the reporting of ballots.
Advance polls ran from September 10-13th, so any issues that arose after that date were not factored in early voters’ decisions.
Mail-in ballots must have been returned by Monday’s date- but could take up to four days to tally, while the Armed Forces ballots are also added to announced preliminary totals once they are processed.
