Local residents are walking in memory of Joe Commanda who never made it home from the the Mohawk Institute Indian Residential School in Brantford, Ontario.
Joe was 13-years old when he was struck by a train and killed while running away from the residential school in 1969.
Family and friends are starting their walk in Brantford today (August 27th, 2021).
The final stretch of the walk is expected to start Sunday (August 29th, 2021) around 3:00pm.
The last part of the walk will be from the Pikwakanagan Bridge and continue to Our Lady of Nativity Cemetery with a feast to follow at the Cultural Grounds.
