It had all the atmosphere of a family picnic, as Arnprior Regional Health held a special event in appreciation of the volunteers who helped make local vaccination clinics possible in the community.
The statistics are impressive; more than 80 volunteers donated nearly 9,000 volunteer hours at the local vaccination clinics, and the Arnprior Vaccine Team hosted a special event today (Wednesday) at Robert Simpson Park to celebrate each person’s contribution in protecting the community against COVID-19.
Volunteers were treated to a picnic lunch, then serenaded by a parade of speakers celebrating their achievement.
Andrew Keck, Manager, COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout, for the Renfrew County and District Health Unit spoke on behalf of the vacationing Acting Medical Officer of Health, saying the drive-thru clinic model developed in Arnprior, became a template across Ontario.
Eric Hanna, retiring President and CEO, Arnprior Regional Health says the cooperation shown locally is the essence of Arnprior.
Dr. Aya Suzuki says there are still upcoming clinics slated for September, and encourages everyone to take advantage.
Acting as MC at the function was the Chairperson for the ARH Board, Cathy Jordan.
Certificates were presented to the volunteers, who were asked not to go too far away- as there will be a couple of local clinics coming up in September.
