Last week, Renfrew OPP responded to four calls regarding animals left in vehicles.
Between August 11th and 13th, police were able to warn three pet owners about pet safety and the vehicle was gone upon the officer’s arrival in the fourth incident.
Where there are reasonable grounds to believe an animal is in distress, police officers, First Nations Constables and animal welfare inspectors may enter vehicles.
Temperatures inside a vehicle can quickly get a lot hotter than outside temperature, a dramatic increase in heat can happen in just the first ten minutes.
