It was a gathering of the municipal clan unlike any seen since the four-laning announcement for the McNab-Braeside to Renfrew portion of Highway 17 back in 2019.
Representatives from localities in Eastern Renfrew County, Warden Debbie Robinson and Pikwakanagan Chief Wendy Jocko joined MPP John Yakabuski and Municipal Affairs Minister Steve Clark for the celebration of the latter’s Municipal Zoning Order that unlocks two parcels of previously prime agricultural land for industrial purposes.

The land won’t sit fallow for long. Six agriculturally-based industries will be relocating from Germany, and hiring locally to service anticipated clientele from both Montreal and Toronto areas.
While the announcement came on a blustery day in the Township, MPP John Yakabuski says the announcement is substantive.
The relocations will create between five and six hundred good-paying jobs for employment on the two parcels of McNab-Braeside lands.
Mayor Tom Peckett says in fact, work on readying the sites is already underway.
The announcement was made at the Murray Yantha Community Centre on Russett Drive Friday morning.
