After finishing her masters degree at Queen’s University, Rebecca Wichers-Schreur did not expect to get lured into the family business.
She had been in need of a job, while her family just opened Renfrew & Burnstown Building Supply and needed an extra hand.
What began as a short-term job opportunity, turned into a fulfilling career for Rebecca and the hardware and home improvement store just celebrated five years of business.
And while launching a career as a young woman in a male-dominated industry isn’t an easy feat, Rebecca says a belief in herself and her capabilities paved the way for success.
Rebecca looks back at her career with pride but also credits her team of skilled and dedicated women.
