The union representing Ontario hospital workers picketed outside of Renfrew Victoria Hospital this week.
The Ontario Council of Hospital Unions of CUPE says the Ontario Hospital Association, the group that bargains on behalf of Ontario hospitals, has proposed takeaways that would remove job protection and mobility rights of the workforce.
CUPE’s OCHU secretary treasurer, Sharon Richer explains a recent bill proposed by the province that would cap hospital staff salaries at a one per cent increase.
Bargaining between CUPE’s OCHU and the Ontario Hospital Association will resume in September, when contracts are due to expire.
