Algonquins of Pikwakanagan honour the lives of children lost in residential schools

Hundreds of candles were lit as the sun went down and the Algonquin drum helped guide the way home to the creator for all the precious souls.

Algonquins of Pikwakanagan Chief Wendy Jocko was emotional while speaking to those in attendance, saying it’s ok if you’re not ok because we’re all here to support you.

Jocko thanked everyone for coming out to support the survivors and to stand in solidarity with other First Nations across Turtle Island following the tragic discovery of children that died at residential schools.

The Pikwakanagan Chief thanked Bear Nation for the honour songs and says she appreciates all the support neighbouring municipalities, residents and councillors have shown.
