The Arnprior and District Museum has received a grant from Digital Museums Canada for its project “Unravelling the Yarn – The Textile Industry in Arnprior”.
Employment in textile manufacturing locally was an economic mainstay from the mid-19th century for 150 years.
The 15 thousand dollars received will focus attention on the role the Kenwood Mills, (now the Kenwood Corporate Centre at William and Edward Streets) played in sustaining the community through the Great Depression of 1929-1937.
The exhibit will be available through the Digital Museums Canada website.
A link will also be provided through the museum’s webpage, and access to this virtual exhibition is planned for the end of 2021.
