When Renfrew native Alan Letang resigned as Head Coach of the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack June 16th, it was to pursue “other opportunities” after five seasons behind the bench in the Scenic City.
It didn’t take him long to find a new gig on familiar turf.
Letang was introduced Tuesday by the Sarnia Sting as the club’s new head coach.
Now 45, Letang was an original member of the team when the franchise relocated from Newmarket in 1994.
The Renfrew product played 20 years professionally, including seasons with the NHL’s Dallas Stars, Calgary Flames and the New York Islanders.
Alan Letang replaces Derian Hatcher behind the bench, as the co-owner is paring back his roles with the organization.
The 2021-2022 OHL season is slated to begin October 7th.
