A move to oppose the coming Four Rivers Family Health Team involving ARH and a consortium of communities to Arnprior’s east over concerns it would split Renfrew County has stalled before it started.
Arnprior Mayor Walter Stack says the new Health entity has already been given the nod at County Council, and the local municipality would be speaking out of turn.
Stack says the informal group that was forming around opposition to the Four Rivers Family Health Team has twice opted not to share their concerns in public- but that doesn’t mean Arnprior shouldn’t hear from the Hospital on the changes.
The Mayor says Arnprior Regional Health has accepted the invitation to present to Council as soon as the implementation date for the Four Rivers Team is finalized.
Stack is sensitive whenever it is suggested Arnprior is becoming a bedroom community for Ottawa, but admits the reality is our day surgeries are performed by physicians from the nation’s capital, and residents see specialists there for more serious concerns already.
Stack acknowledges that municipalities have no jurisdiction over hospital services, but the forthcoming ARH presentation would provide the community with valuable information.
