The Town of Arnprior lowered the flags at its municipal buildings Monday.
The solemn tribute is in memory lives lost in the Indian Residential School system across the nation over the period of their operation.
The gesture will remain in effect for 215 hours, in memory of the 215 children’s lives it was revealed Friday that had been buried on the grounds of the Kamloops Residential School, largest in the country.
A National Indian Residential School Crisis Line has been set up to provide support for former students and those affected.
