The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) has issued a Section 22 Order against Olmstead’s Home Hardware in Cobden for not adhering to COVID-19 guidelines.
After several attempts by the health unit to rectify non-compliance, Olmstead’s Home Hardware must immediately close the business to indoor traffic, allowing curbside pick-up, delivery or online services only.
Acting Medical Officer of Health for the RCDHU, Dr. Robert Cushman, says they take no pleasure in monetary fines, but adds it is their duty to enforce all public health measures set by the province to ensure the safety of residents in Renfrew County and District.
Cushman says we have come this far, and it us up to all of us to do our part to ensure the safety of our community as a whole.
It is imperative that businesses follow the COVID-19 Workplace Safety guidelines to ensure the
safety of their employees, customers and the public, while also reducing the risk of workplace
outbreaks.
Remember, stay home if you are sick, avoid contact with people who are ill, practice physical distancing (2 metres), wear a mask/face covering when physical distancing cannot be maintained, wash your hands, use the COVID Alert App, and complete the COVID19 self assessment tool or COVID-19 school and child care self-assessment tool daily if you go to work, school or daycare, to monitor for symptoms and proper guidance.
