The Town of Renfrew was notified that the provincial and federal governments will pick up the tab on rehabilitating the swinging bridge, but there’s a catch: the project must begin in June and finish in December.
In order to meet those requirements, the town has awarded the contract to WSP.
Director of development and works, Mike Asselin says WSP has already been performing inspections on the bridge and is familiar enough with its unique design to meet a fast-tracked deadline.
The project totals over $183,000, with the feds brunting 80 per cent of the costs, and the province taking up the remaining 20 per cent.
