The Adopt Memory Box Campaign for the new Grove Nursing Home has reached the 83 per cent mark (and counting) for its total fundraising goal.
Not only are the Arnprior & McNab-Braeside Men’s Shed participants volunteering their time and labour to build a memory box for each of the 96 residents moving in the new Grove in late summer, they are also championing the community fundraising charge.
The memory boxes will be installed outside of each resident’s room as a means of displaying the life stories of each.
The focus on long-term memories is also a way to help engage residents with dementia in meaningful conversation.
Participation stats show 39 Memory Box adoptions.
16 local businesses have sponsored the project and additional donations from Rona, Gilks Signs + Promotion and McDonald Brothers Construction bring the campaign near completion.
