Although the Canadian Space Agency won’t go on record with us to confirm it, a spokesperson tells us what was seen locally early Monday morning was neither UFOs nor aliens.
Monique Sauve lives near the foot of Castleford Road, and couldn’t believe her eyes the early morning hours of May 10th.
Across North America, Elon Musk has been rewiring the sky.
The bright lights are from Starlink satellites launched by SpaceX.
SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service promises high speeds and low latency without needing broadband infrastructure.
The satellites orbit low to the Earth, making them visible to the naked eye, and some say, contributing to pre-dawn light pollution.
Sauve says she waited patiently for news of the phenomenon on the radio, to no avail.
Experts have told CTV- which is also tracking the phenomenon, that the satellites don’t give off any light themselves, but rather show up to the naked eye because they reflect sunlight.
Musk has drastic plans to increase the number of satellites in earth orbit from the current inventory of 3,000 by adding another 12,000 in the next five years.
Canadians can currently pre-order the service, which costs C$129 per month.
Starlink is currently available to customers in Toronto- and will soon see competition from Amazon, which plans to deliver a similar service with 3,000 satellites of its own.
