Thursday Ontario Premier Doug Ford held a news conference from isolation where he’s been for a few days due to a staffer testing positive for COVID. He addressed two main issues, the paid sick leave program and income but also touched on recent provincial decisions made by his government which was the reason for an opening apology.
Premier Ford even had to pause as he was overcome by emotion when talking about himself being isolated but still being able to work which wasn’t the case for many Ontarians.
As far as a paid sick leave program, the Premier did confirm a program was going to be revealed but would not commit to a timeline.
The premier was asked if he was still the person to lead this province through this pandemic. He simply answered “our team is strong, our team is solid, and we will continue to lead and get through this pandemic. I’m not one to walk away from anything.”
