Provincial Connecting Links funding is flowing to Renfrew.
MPP John Yakabuski has announced the Queen’s Park is providing the Town of Renfrew with $3 million to support O’Brien Road (Highway 60) reconstruction between Gillan Road and Mask Road.
Eligible costs include design, construction, renewal, rehabilitation and replacement of municipal roads and bridges that connect two ends of a provincial highway through a community or to a border crossing.
Yak notes that volume of traffic has contributed to wear and tear on the section in question, and that 3 million is the maximum available under the Connecting links program.
All-in-all, the Ontario government is investing $30 million to help 14 municipalities repair roads and bridges.
Starting in 2021- 22, the province is permanently raising the maximum amount of available funding for bridge projects from $3 million to $5 million.
Eligible municipalities are also encouraged to apply for the 2022-23 Connecting Links Program, which will be open to applications later this year.
