COVID-19 vaccines are arriving in Renfrew County and priority groups are able to book their shots.
Local MPP John Yakabuski says the goal is to administer as many doses as quickly as possible.
Yakabuski says organizers of the vaccine clinics have been busy with roughly 8,000 doses administered in Renfrew County and District.
The member of provincial parliament for Renfrew-Nipissing Pembroke says the goal is reminding you to only book a vaccine when you’re eligible.
You can register for a COVID-19 vaccine online here (proof of eligibility is required). Yakabuski says don’t book an appointment if you’re not eligible so the system doesn’t get filled up.
Those with serious health concerns who are wondering when they will get vaccinated should contact their family doctor or the health unit.
Vaccine clinic dates and times are only available based on vaccine supply.
Eligible populations at this time:
- Retirement Home residents (who will be vaccinated in-home by mobile vaccination teams).
- Retirement Home essential caregivers.
- Residents in the general population who are 80 years of age and older.
- Indigenous residents (on or off reserve) who are 55 years of age and older.
