The Warden for the County of Renfrew is pushing for a hybrid model for the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out which would include mobile, in-person and stationary clinics.
As part of her opening remarks to County Council this morning, Warden Debbie Robinson talked about alternatives to people lining up at arenas to get vaccinated.
Robinson says she has growing concerns about a vaccine distribution plan that is hyper-focused on a “you come to us model” with people having to travel, in some cases significant distances, and line up in arenas to get vaccinated .
Robinson says she knows many who have compromised health and would never step foot in a building with hundreds of others to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Warden for Renfrew County says through VTAC they brought COVID-19 testing to the community. She says this model seems like the ideal mechanism to advance the vaccination plan with a single number to call and online registration.
Warden Robinson talked about a hybrid approach to the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out. She says county council needs to be vocal in supporting local service delivery options for vaccination, ensure choice is maintained and that residents are not obligated to line up indoors to get vaccinated.
