The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP has arrested the driver of a stolen vehicle.
Police say early this morning (February 18th) around 3:30 am, they conducted a traffic stop of a speeding vehicle on Highway 17 in Laurentian Valley Township.
The vehicle, which had been travelling at 50+ km/h over the posted speed limit, was reported stolen in Ottawa.
40-year-old Jean-Marie Bertrand of Ottawa has been charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Operation while Prohibited – three counts
- Race a motor vehicle – excessive speed
- Fail to use lower beam – oncoming
The accused was held for a bail hearing and they remain in custody until their next court appearance in Pembroke on February 26th.
