All long-term care homes in Renfrew County and District have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The local health unit says a total of 908 local residents have been vaccinated.
Acting Medical Officer of Health with the Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU), Doctor Robert Cushman, says one woman had a little problem, but after taking a second look it appeared unrelated to the vaccination.
Cushman says when you’re working with 900 seniors, four or five of them are likely going to need medical treatment even if they’re not vaccinated.
The Director of Long-Term Care for the County of Renfrew, Shelley Sheedy, says 96% of residents at Miramichi Lodge and 94% of residents at Bonnechere Manor in Renfrew received their COVID-19 vaccinations.
The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) says vaccination clinics have been completed in all 10 long-term care homes with first doses provided to 908 people.
