The Township of Whitewater Region’s Volunteer Seniors & Older Adults Task Force is working to establish a rural-focused Age-Friendly Community Plan.
They will be doing so in consultation with Barnes Management Group, who will help shape the exercise thanks to a 24 thousand dollar grant from the Province’s Seniors Community Grant Program.
This plan will assist in tackling seniors-focused issues and services such as housing, transportation, health, recreation, and inclusion with a specific rural lens.
The Task Force and focus groups will be meeting in the coming month to gather information on seniors & older adults on their needs and services that may be available to them.
Community surveys will also be implemented to assist in gathering this information over the next few weeks. Feedback is critical in completing the needs assessment which is a cornerstone of the rural focused plan.
More information will be shared on how to share input and participate in the near future.
