On Monday February 8th Quebec’s Outaouais Region will be moving into what one could term, “Red Zone Light.”
Premier Francois Legault has announced an easing of restrictions imposed based on the steady decline in new reported cases of COVID-19 in the Province.
Community transmission is more present in urban areas where there is a high population density.
The border situation of the Outaouais as well as its geographical location explain in part the need to maintain more strict measures.
Adjustments made in the red zone include: the reopening of non-priority businesses, including personal care and esthetic businesses; the reopening of museums and libraries and the resumption of outdoor activities for a maximum of four people (including classes), respecting the 2-metre distance.
The curfew between 8PM and 5AM and the ban on gatherings in private homes and on private
property are maintained as well as the requirement to work from home.
Despite social fatigue arising from adhering to multiple regulations it is important to remain vigilant to protect both ourselves and the community’s vulnerable populations, according to CISSS president Josée Filion.
