A decision in the William or “Bill” Kirby attempted murder trial is expected next month.
The two week trial at the Pembroke courthouse wrapped up in January, 2021. Charges stem from an incident in September of 2018 where a woman was found in a wooded area in McNab/Braeside with stab wounds.
The crown attorney and defense lawyer submitted written closing statements to the judge who will make a decision on the matter March 18th, 2021. If he’s found guilty of the attempted murder and kidnapping charges, the 74-year-old former Arnprior resident will be sentenced at a later date.
Kirby has already been found guilty in a sexual assault trial against him that dates back almost 50-years. He will be sentenced for those crimes on March 10th, 2021.
