Premier Doug Ford says there could be an announcement next week on when the economy will start reopening after a province-wide lockdown was imposed on Boxing Day.
Ford says the issue will be discussed by his cabinet this afternoon and there will be an announcement — likely on Monday.
He says the goal is to open up the economy safely and only a couple of COVID-19 hot spots might reopen a week later than other parts of the province.
Ford told reporters at a COVID-19 testing facility at Pearson International Airport that he especially wants to get the economy opening up in northern rural areas, where case counts have been lower.
