Pembroke Renfrew County Crime Stoppers is reporting 2020 was a record year.
Board President Peter Vincent says Crime Stoppers received 482 tips over the year, an 85% increase from the previous year.
In 2020, Crime Stoppers tip activity led to 14 arrests, 47 charges, the recovery of 3 firearms and 4 vehicles.
Vincent indicates $60,000 in property was recovered, as well as $28,000 in cash and $159,000 in drugs for a total of $247,000 in all.
The crime-fighting organization received the majority of tips from concerned citizens through anonymous submissions on their website, at www.valleytips.ca.
Pembroke Renfrew County Crime Stoppers does not indicate how much it paid out in incentives, but says keep those anonymous tips rolling in!
Board President, Peter Vincent says that board statistics show that since inception in 1989, over $12,498,000 in illegal drugs have been recovered by police.
