OPP can’t randomly stop you while you’re out on the road in order to find out whether you’re complying with Ontario’s State of Emergency and Stay-at-Home orders, according to East Region Communications Officer Bill Dickson.
Dickson says that if you are stopped for a legitimate traffic infraction, the topic of what you’re doing out could come up.
He says you are then welcome to volunteer the information.
Some people have sought permission letters from their employer or doctor- and while they’re okay, it’s not a requirement to keep in your glove box.
