Local communities are doing the preparatory work for vaccine rollouts, and long-term care residents are the first priority.
Ontario expects that long-term care residents, staff and essential caregivers in the highest-risk zones of Toronto, Peel, Windsor Essex and York Region, will have received their shots by (Thursday) January 21st.
The Grove Nursing Home in Arnprior does not have a confirmed start date, but preparations are underway to receive the Moderna vaccine and promptly rollout immunization for staff, residents and designated caregivers.
In the meantime, staff are ensuring the personal information for each individual is up to date, completing the necessary consent forms and developing a vaccination schedule.
Queen’s Park expects that each public health unit will create a local plan by mid-January that outlines more specific details about how vaccinations will be implemented.
The Moderna vaccine has been designated for our area, but this week restrictions were eased on the Pfizer serum so that it can be taken from storage at a hospital to a long-term care home within a certain number of hours as has happened in Ottawa.
Right now there is no update to the vaccination timeline for ARH staff at the Hospital or the community programs. This information will be shared as soon as it is available.
