A former teacher at Renfrew Collegiate Institute known for his work beyond the Valley has died at the age of 92.
Major David Lorente taught at RCI for over thirty years following a prior assignment with St. Pat’s College in Ottawa.
Lorente was the founder of Home Children Canada, an organization that supported the over 100 thousand British orphans relocated to Canada over the period from 1869 to 1932.
Major Lorente passed away Saturday (January 2nd) at the Perley Rideau Veteran’s Home and is remembered by three generations of family.
A private visitation and service will be held at the Goulet Funeral Home, 310 Argyle St S, Renfrew.
Donations in his memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
