Whitewater Region is letting residents know what municipal services will be available during the provincial shutdown.
The Whitewater Region Township Municipal Emergency Control Group has been meeting on a regular basis to assess the ongoing situation.
The Province of Ontario announced a province-wide shutdown starting December 26 at 12:01 am.
The Township is taking actions to help protect the health of our community and prevent the spread of the virus.
- The Township Administration Office will be open during regular hours for essential services including payments, licenses and permits.The Township Office is closed December 24, 25, 31 and January 1st for the holidays. Residents are encouraged to make payments online, utilize the after hours drop box, or contact staff by email or telephone to schedule an appointment.
- The landfill at 990 Kohlsmith Road will remain open with new provincial guidelines in place. Please wear a mask and respect physical distancing. There are no anticipated impacts to curbside garbage and recycling collection activities. Regular residential curbside pick-up will continue in keeping with the usual schedule. The landfill is closed on Boxing Day (Dec. 26).
- Arena operations are suspended from December 24, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) until January 24, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. Outdoor rinks may open by local associations depending on weather conditions and following provincial guidelines with a limit of 10 people.
- The Whitewater Region Public Library will be moving to curbside pick-up. Please contact the Library for hours of operation.
- All municipal hall facilities and other facilities (i.e. municipal garage, fire halls, etc.) will be closed to the public. Even though some facilities are closed to the public, all essential services continue to be offered including regular road maintenance, fire service, development permits, etc.
