Renfrew, Arnprior and the surrounding area will be included in the 28-day lockdown in Ontario.
The news this afternoon from Premier Doug Ford includes shutting down non-essential businesses starting December 26th and extending the winter break for students in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Acting Medical Officer of Health with the Renfrew County and District Health Unit, Doctor Robert Cushman, says all outbreaks in our area can be traced to travel.
Cushman says while Renfrew County and Ottawa have not been as hard hit as the Toronto area, it’s important we are all on the same page to halt the spread of the virus before we can get vaccinated.
The Acting Medical Officer of Health is very concerned with COVID-19 numbers rising after the holidays and says Premier Ford made the right decision by implementing the lockdown.
Before the lockdown was implemented the RCDHU had already issued a travel advisory
