1.49 million dollars, out of a total expenditure of 3.25 million province-wide, will be invested in tourism industry support in the Riding of Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke.
A number of Provincial dignitaries including Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries, and John Yakabuski, Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry teamed up for today’s announcement (the announcement Wednesday).
Through the Ontario Arts Council, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Ontario Creates- and other granting programs, the Province has now provided over $2.9 million in funding to tourism attractions within our area, (Ontario Highlands Tourism) known as regional tourism organization 11.
As an example, the Community Resource Centre (CRC) in Killaloe is one organization that the province is supporting with a grant of $622,500 over three years.
The government is also investing over $350,000 in local festivals and events through the Celebrate Ontario program to help revitalize Ontario’s $36 billion tourism industry that supports over 400,000 jobs.
