With winter weather expected in the coming days, local police are reminding drivers to stay alert, slow down and stay in control.
Environment Canada is calling for periods of snow all day and night on Sunday and into Monday morning (November 23rd).
The OPP says drive according to the conditions, keep a safe distance between others, consider installing snow tires, clean snow and frost off all windows, mirrors and lights and give yourself extra time to reach your destination or consider cancelling your trip if conditions don’t improve.
The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP is also recommending you carry safety items in your vehicle including a charged cell phone, ice scrapper, snow brush, a small shovel, sand, booster cables, road flares, a tow rope, fuel line anti-freeze, extra clothing, footwear, a blanket, non-perishable food, a flashlight, small tool kit and first aid kit
Be sure to check road conditions online before your trip or you can call 5-1-1 for up to date information.
