The town of Renfrew’s municipal garage on Lisgard is nearly 70 years old. It’s no longer efficient, functional and or safe for municipal employees, according to Reeve Peter Emon.
He says the garage only has one set of doors and adds the floor is all pitted from years of work, making it impossible for mechanics to use a crawler for necessary work. Though they’re still working on designs, and the project doesn’t have a start date, he adds it’s going to be a larger building with two sets of doors, most likely in the back and the front.
It’s going to be an expensive project, but Emon says there were very few options when it came to making this decision.
Staff will put together a site plan which will take into account concerns from local residents. The new garage will be built across the road from the existing building on Lisgard.
