The Acting Medical Officer of Health for the Renfrew County and District Health Unit has a warning and some stern advice for local residents with Thanksgiving weekend coming up.
Doctor Robert Cushman says he has three important messages and you’re not going to like it.
Doctor Cushman says we don’t want to jeopardize Christmas, schools to close and businesses to shut down again.
He says limit travel to the point of no travel because that’s how the virus gets from one community to another.
The second piece of advice is to keep your Thanksgiving dinner to those in your household.
Doctor Cushman adds if you’re sick this weekend you should stay in your room so you’re not sharing your cough and sniffles (which could be COVID-19) with others.
He says instead of having a traditional gathering try Skype, social media, or bundle up and host the event outdoors.
Cushman says this Thanksgiving weekend could allow the virus to spread and he’s counting on community members to follow advice.
In the month of September the Renfrew County and District Health Unit reported 22 cases of COVID-19, more than any other month.
