The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says its officers have been tasked with efforts to limit transmission of COVID-19.
Frontline officers will be enforcing provisions of the Reopening Ontario Act (A Flexible Response to COVID-19; ROA).
Note that there are new restrictions on gathering limits of ten persons indoors and 25 people outdoors for any purpose whatsoever.
There are no exemptions whether it’s at a private residence, backyard, or in a park or other recreational areas.
An event or gathering in a staffed business is subject to similar rules under separate public health and safety guidelines.
Police can shut down any premises that is violating the gathering limits.
If police are closing down a gathering, you must leave or be ticketed or charged.
If you know of a gathering that you believe isn’t following the rules, report it.
For all non-emergency police matters call the OPP non-emergency number at 1-888-310-1122 or contact your local bylaw enforcement officer.
Visit the OPP website news section for more information to help limit COVID-19 transmission.
