The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is letting residents know what to do if they have COVID-19 symptoms.
The health unit updated the guidance document for testing and isolation today (September 22nd).
Anyone with symptoms must self-isolate and get tested.
The person with symptoms can return to work or school when they have received a negative COVID-19 test, it’s been 24-hours since symptoms have started improving and they have not had a fever for 24-hours without medication.
The RCDHU says household members of a symptomatic person must self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms, but do not need to be tested.
Household members can continue to attend school or work with careful attention to physical distancing, masking and handwashing.
The health unit says minor symptoms such as a runny nose should not keep children away from school as long as a negative test result has been received.
If a person with symptoms does not get tested they must self isolate for 14-days from the onset of the symptoms.
The RCDHU says a doctors note is not required to return to work or school if the above criteria has been met.
ATTN: Impt update to #COVID19 guidance for #RenfrewCounty + #SouthAlgonquin. Household members who DO NOT have symptoms can now self-monitor (not self-isolate). This means they can attend school or work with careful attention to physical distancing, masking and hand hygiene. pic.twitter.com/W1rYKbPq09
