The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) has identified 100 potential COVID-19 contacts since Friday, September 11th.
The RCDHU has confirmed 37 cases of COVID-19, 32 are considered resolved and one person has died.
The RCDHU says we have had more cases in the last month than in the previous three months.
The health unit says this weekend we could possibly be witnessing our first serious community outbreak in Renfrew County and District.
Doctor Robert Cushman the Acting Medical Officer of Health for the RCDHU says the latest concerns about a school and a gym are a stark demonstration of how quickly things could go wrong.
Cushman says if we want schools to stay open on the economy to progress, we must recognize that individual vigilance and strict observance of public health recommendations are imperative.
He adds symptoms can mimic anything and everything, including health problems you may have had in the past. Do not make your own diagnosis, leave that to the health professionals and to the testing. Make arrangements through the Renfrew County Virtual Triage Assesament Centre (RCVTAC).-

Cushman says you need to wash your hands often, practice physical distancing and stay home if you’re sick.
